Survey Reveals MediaTek, Qualcomm, and Apple Chipsets Preferred by Smartphone Buyers – best processor mobile
A recent survey conducted across India’s top six cities – New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad – has shed light on the preferences of smartphone buyers. The survey findings indicate that 83% of users are considering purchasing a 5G-enabled smartphone in their next purchase.

Smartphone buyers are becoming increasingly knowledgeable and discerning about their purchases, particularly when it comes to the chipset. According to a report by CyberMedia Research (CMR), 81% of Indian smartphone users are aware of the significance of chipsets in smartphones. The report states, “This awareness extends beyond just tech-savvy individuals, indicating a broader understanding of the importance of chipsets among Indian smartphone users.”
The Most Popular Chipset Brands
The consumer survey conducted by CyberMedia Research (CMR) reveals the top three chipset brands preferred by smartphone buyers: MediaTek, Qualcomm, and Apple. Each brand received a ranking score of 58 out of 100. The report attributes users’ preference for these brands to their reputation for delivering enhanced overall device performance, as well as a superior gaming and imaging experience.
Surachita Deb Sharma, Analyst-Industry Consulting Group (ICG) at CyberMedia Research (CMR), emphasizes the growing recognition among consumers that the smartphone chipset plays a crucial role in driving these experiences.
The report also highlights MediaTek’s notable growth in terms of market share. In the first quarter of 2023, MediaTek captured a significant 48% share of the smartphone market. This can be attributed to increased consumer awareness and interest, with approximately 72% of consumers acknowledging that MediaTek powers various smart devices.
Additional Findings from the Survey:
– Currently, 31% of surveyed smartphone users own a 5G-capable smartphone.
– Around 6 out of 7 smartphone users utilize their devices for content creation.
– When capturing videos or photos, fast uploading (71%) is considered the most important aspect, followed by enhanced storage capacity (67%) and a fast network connection (65%).
– Approximately 5 out of 6 smartphone users play games on their devices for stress relief (44%) and leisure (41%), often immersing themselves in another character (26%).
– Sports games are the most preferred (53%), followed by action/adventure games (51%) among gamers.
– Battery life is crucial for 7 out of 8 gamers when playing games on their smartphones.
These insights provide valuable information for smartphone manufacturers and help them understand the preferences and expectations of consumers when it comes to chipsets, features, and overall smartphone experiences.
